Why was Toro Rosso renamed?
Red Bull’s sister outfit joined the grid back in 2006 and initially raced under the Toro Rosso guise (meaning Red Bull in Italian) but were renamed as AlphaTauri from 2020 to promote the company’s fashion brand. Red Bull’s junior F1 team, formerly AlphaTauri, changed its name ahead of the 2024 season. Now though, the team has clarified the meaning behind RB, giving it a unified identity for fans to associate with. The team rebranded to Visa CashApp RB after securing two major sponsors, Visa and CashApp last year.Red Bull has owned two F1 teams since it purchased Minardi ahead of the 2006 season, just one year after the Milton Keynes squad made its own grand prix debut. Whilst the main outfit has grown into perennial F1 champions, the sister team has transitioned from Toro Rosso to AlphaTauri to its current guise, RB.Red Bull’s junior Formula One team, formerly known as Toro Rosso and then AlphaTauri, has been renamed Visa Cash App RB ahead of the 2024 season, the team announced on Wednesday.
